What Are Fast GPU Hours?
Midjourney uses "fast GPU hours" rather than a fixed image count. Fast mode generates images in 15-60 seconds. Each image uses roughly 1 minute of GPU time, so 3.3 GPU hours ≈ 200 images on the Basic plan. Quality settings and aspect ratios affect actual generation time.
Relaxed mode (Standard plan and above) lets you generate unlimited images with longer wait times (2-10 minutes). For most non-urgent creative work, Relaxed mode is perfectly usable.
Is the Annual Discount Worth It?
Annual billing saves 20% (Standard goes from $30/mo to $24/mo). If you're committed to Midjourney as a regular tool, the annual plan pays back quickly. However, Midjourney periodically updates its models — if you're unsure, monthly is fine to start.
